Stability Testing Rooms

A line of environmental test chambers includes walk-in rooms suitable for simulating mild temperature and humidity variations in such test applications as product stability testing, shelf life testing, package testing, and research. Designed for steady-state product storage as well as exposure testing, the environmental rooms feature a temperature range of –20° to 60°C and an optional relative humidity range of 10 to 95%. They meet ICH Q1A guidelines for pharmaceutical stability testing, as well. Standard room features include a stainless-steel interior, a white embossed aluminum or painted steel exterior, a door with viewing window, two interior lights, and a temperature limit and alarm. The rooms are controlled with the EZT-560i touch screen controller with data logging, data file access via memory stick, Ethernet control and monitoring, alarm notification via e-mail or text message, data file backup, and full system security. Cincinnati Sub-Zero Products Inc., Cincinnati.
Band Sealer

A redesigned medical bar sealer offers continuous sealing of all medical pouch materials. The Supersealer MBS features an Allen Bradley programmable logic controller (PLC) with touch screen panel that monitors variables at all times so that a pouch can never be sealed during an excursion beyond any parameter. The machine’s automatic reverse is activated as soon as an out-of-setting parameter is detected. The PLC supplies all the information necessary for an easy calibration, and changes in sealer settings require just the touch of a button. With an optional Ethernet connection, the user can send a record of all pouch-sealing cycles directly to a PC. O/K International Corp., Marlborough, MA.
Linear Positioning Stage

A high-precision positioning stage with a low profile is driven by an ironless-core linear motor. Made of high-strength aluminum and designed for stiffness and smooth motion, the LT190-EDLM table has a total height of 50 mm and a travel that ranges from 150 to 500 mm. Positioning accuracy, repeatability, and maximum speed depend on which of the three available high-precision encoders on offer are incorporated; the linear scales range in resolution from 20 nm to 6.25 pm. Typical speed is 1 m/sec with an acceleration of several g’s. The stage is designed to allow two units to be mounted together without an additional interface, creating a low-profile x-y configuration. A three-axis arrangement also is available, made possible by the inclusion of a rugged right-angle bracket. Steinmeyer Inc., Burlington, MA.
Cutting and Piercing Components

Assisting device OEMs with product design, development, and rapid prototyping, a company specializes in the manufacture of high-performance cutting, piercing, and delivery systems and subassemblies for surgical devices. Its proprietary sharps-processing techniques involve up-to-date CNC sharpening and pointing equipment and finishing technology. Components produced include surgical blades, trocars, custom scalpels, endoscopic scissors, tissue cutters, biopsy punches, sharpened tubes, specialty access needles, probes, tips, cannulae, stylets, biopsy needle assemblies, shaver blades, and bone saws. IncisionTech, Staunton, VA.
Photoelectric Sensors

A series of rugged, high-performance photoelectric sensors with sensor heads rated to IP69K can be subjected to high-pressure washdown at temperatures as high as 176°F. The PX-series sensors have a stainless-steel casing that protects against damage from vibration or shock, while the sensor heads are thoroughly backfilled with epoxy to prevent liquids from damaging the internal electronics. In addition, tough, scratch-resistant lenses help make the sensors impervious to the challenges presented by harsh environments. The sensors are equipped with a high-power mode that enables them to perform their detection function with stability even when operating conditions are very dirty. An IP67-rated sensor amplifier has a dual-output feature that enables the user to see easily when the sensor becomes active and when the low-light alarm turns on. Seven water- and oil-resistant types of sensor heads are available. Keyence Corp. of America, Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
