Industry BriefsNordson Corp. (Duluth, GA) has announced that Peter Lambert will assume the role of vice president, packaging and product assembly operations. Lambert’s new responsibilities will include engineering, marketing, and communications activities.
Sensitech (Beverly, MA) and Envirotainer (Lagga Marma, Sweden) have formed an alliance to develop advanced cold-chain solutions for air transport of pharmaceuticals and other perishable goods. The alliance will deliver information-based systems that manage distribution cost and speed product release while enhancing control and recordkeeping of cold-chain processes.
Cardinal Health Inc. (Philadelphia) has announced the addition of a metered dose inhaler (MDI) manufacturing line to its existing facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. The fully automated small-scale commercial line will be suitable for manufacturing Phase III clinical trial materials and commercial products.
Klöckner Pentaplast of America Inc. (Gordonsville, VA) has acquired Greenway Plastics Industries Corp. for an undisclosed sum. The company will purchase all manufacturing assets associated with the Barex film business as well as its proprietary product formulations and trade names.
Alcoa Flexible Packaging (Richmond, VA) received ISO 9001:2000 certifications at two of its U.S. custom thermoforming facilities—one in Wheaton, IL, and the other in Cumberland, RI—plus one in Sungai Petani, Malaysia. Each facility underwent extensive audits by BSI Management Systems.
Marchesini Group SpA (Bologna, Italy) has acquired the CO.RI.M.A company (Siena, Italy), a major manufacturer and supplier of machines for the pharmaceutical and diagnostic industries. With the addition of CO.RI.M.A machines, Marchesini can
now offer customers complete production lines for liquid products contained in such packages as ampules, syringes, and vials.
ProClinical Pharmaceutical Services Inc. (Phoenixville, PA) has acquired the assets of Vital Pharma Inc. from its parent company, Vital Signs Inc. The company has enhanced its ability to offer clinical and commercial packaging through its acquisition of Vital Pharma’s business. Vital Pharma is a key provider of sterile pharmaceutical products using blow-fill-seal technology.
