John W. Peabody, MD, PhD, is senior vice president, medical director, and global thought leader for Sg2 (Skokie, IL). In this role, he leads the development of clinical intelligence programs, focusing on research development and program enhancement for the global healthcare market. A seasoned healthcare clinician, academician, and economist, Dr. Peabody provides expert direction on navigating the global healthcare landscape, including the financing and development of global healthcare systems, as well as the quest for quality and improved outcomes. He is also an Sg2 University faculty member, leading curriculum development for Sg2’s physicians in leadership program.

Since 1995, Dr. Peabody has been a professor in the departments of medicine, epidemiology and biostatistics, and health services at the University of California’s campuses in San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 1999, he was elected a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has testified before Congress and served as a panelist at the Institute of Medicine. Before joining the university, Dr. Peabody worked for the Rand Corp., the World Health Organization, and the World Bank. He also spent two years as director for Project Hope in China.

Dr. Peabody is a board-certified internist. He received his MD from the University of California, San Francisco, his DTM&H from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and his MPhil and PhD in public policy (health economics) from the Rand graduate school.
