Radlink Inc. (Redondo Beach, CA), a manufacturer of digital medical imaging solutions, has elected A. Redmond Doms Jr. to its board of directors. Doms is a member of the project advisory committee for the Los Angeles County–University of Southern California Medical Center and is past president of the St. John's Hospital Foundation. Radlink, which provides medical film-to-digital image conversion, storage, and delivery services to healthcare providers, recently received FDA clearance for the sale and distribution of its computed radiography system.

Celsion Corp. (Columbia, MD), a developer of heat-activated cancer treatment systems, has appointed William Hahne, MD, as its vice president of clinical development and medical affairs and Christopher Black, PhD, as its executive director of preclinical research. Hahne was most recently vice president of clinical development at CuraGen Corp. (Branford, CT), and Black was a John E. Fogarty fellow and associate at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD).

Cardiac Science Corp. (Bothell, WA), a manufacturer of cardiac monitoring and defibrillation products, has named Garry Norris, Cheryl Shea, and Daphne Taylor to its senior executive staff. Norris has been appointed vice president of marketing, a role in which he will lead the global direction, execution, and management of all marketing activities. Prior to joining Cardiac Science, he served as global vice president and chief marketing officer of Eastman Kodak's health imaging division. Shea has been appointed vice president of regulatory affairs and quality assurance. Prior to joining Cardiac Science, Shea owned a consulting firm that provided services to medical device companies. Taylor has been appointed vice president and corporate controller, a role in which she will be responsible for the activities of Cardiac Science's accounting team. She was previously a vice president and corporate controller at a publicly held software and technology company.

Bio/Data Corp. (Horsham, PA), a manufacturer of hemostasis and platelet function medical laboratory products, has appointed its marketing manager, William M. Trolio, to the position of vice president. Trolio joined Bio/Data in 1997, following an 18-year career at Bassett Healthcare (Cooperstown, NY), where he integrated the company's clinical departments. In addition, Bio/Data announced the appointment of two new managers: Kay Callahan as customer care manager and Mason Loika as corporate communications manager.

Orthofix International NV (Huntersville, NC) has promoted chief operating officer Alan W. Milinazzo to group president and chief executive officer. He succeeds Charles W. Federico, who will remain a director of the company. Milinazzo, who joined Orthofix in September 2005, was formerly vice president of vascular business at Medtronic Inc. (Minneapolis), as well as vice president and general manager of its coronary and peripheral businesses. Prior to Medtronic, he spent 12 years in executive roles within Boston Scientific Corp. (Natick, MA).

Imalux Corp. (Cleveland), a medical device company focused on imaging systems based on optical coherence tomography, has elected Jerry C. Cirino as its president and chief executive officer. Cirino, who will also become a member of the company's board of directors, was most recently founding president and CEO of SourceOne Healthcare Technologies (Mentor, OH). The company was sold in November 2005. Prior to SourceOne, Cirino spent nearly 20 years with Marconi Medical Systems.

Antares Pharma Inc. (Exton, PA), a pharma product development company with drug-delivery systems and injectable device engineering capabilities, has appointed Robert F. Apple to the position of senior vice president and chief financial officer. He replaces Lawrence M. Christian, who has retired from his position of vice president of finance and CFO. Apple has held financial roles at several public technology companies.

Roger L. Blaine, PhD, regulatory affairs manager at thermal analysis and rheology equipment supplier TA Instruments (New Castle, DE), has been elected to a term on the board of directors of ASTM International (Conshohocken, PA). ASTM International is a standards development and delivery organization whose standards are used in research and development, product testing, quality systems, and commercial transactions around the globe.

AtriCure Inc. (West Chester, OH), a manufacturer of surgical tissue-ablation devices, has appointed Mark R. Lanning to its board of directors. Lanning, who will serve on AtriCure's audit committee, is vice president and treasurer of Hillenbrand Industries Inc. (Batesville, IN).

Ludwig

Edward J. Ludwig, president and chief executive officer of Becton Dickinson (Franklin Lakes, NJ), has taken the reins as chair of the AdvaMed board of directors. He succeeds Arthur D. Collins Jr., chairman and CEO of Medtronic Inc. (Minneapolis), whose tenure was marked by unprecedented growth in the association's membership. Additionally, Boston Scientific COO Paul LaViolette was named chair of AdvaMed's technology and regulation committee, Edwards Lifesciences chairman and CEO Michael A. Mussallem began his term as chair of the payment and healthcare delivery committee, and Stryker president and CEO Stephen P. MacMillan took over chairmanship of the international committee.

Floyd

David Floyd has been promoted to president of Abbott Spine, a business of Abbott (Abbott Park, IL). He will head up the company's global operations and be responsible for its continued growth. Floyd, who joined the company as general manager of U.S. business in August 2005, has held executive positions at companies including AxioMed Spine Corp., Centerpulse Orthopedics, Zimmer USA, Orthologic Corp., and Sulzer Orthopedics. He replaces Jeff Binder, who has been appointed senior vice president of Abbott and president of Abbott Diagnostics.
