Summer Kudos
In this issue, MX is pleased to pay tribute to the recipients of the 2004 Medical Design Excellence Awards, which were presented this June at the Medical Design & Manufacturing East 2004 exposition in New York City.
This year's MDEA competition honored 28 products and more than 100 manufacturers and suppliers that were involved in their development. Winning products were selected by an independent, multidisciplinary panel of clinical professionals and experts with experience in medical product design and engineering. As readers will see in this issue's feature, each of this year's MDEA winners represents a significant achievement in medical technology.
Achievement is also the keyword for this issue's cover story, which features profiles of 14 top executives who are making their mark in the medtech industry. The company leaders selected for this year's profiles are influencing industry in a variety of waysthrough careful stewardship for company growth, development of public policy, advocacy for the adoption of new technologies, and even megadeals that reshape the marketplace.
The efforts of these executives are devoted not only to advancing their companies' technologies, but also to setting the standard for leadership in the medtech industry. With a vision toward growth and a commitment to change, these executives are demonstrating clear, steady direction and a tireless work ethic.
