Something for the New Year . . .
As
virtually any medtech executive can attest, product innovation and incremental
development are the lifeblood of the industry.
It should be no surprise that the same is true for MX, with its focus
on business strategies for executives of medtech companies. To meet the needs
of its readers, the magazine must be constantly seeking out new ideas and developing
new methods of presenting them. To offer a wider range of timely articles, for
instance, MX last year became a bimonthly publication.
This year, MX continues this progress with the launch of three columns
that will appear regularly in the front of each issue. The Business News section
will provide an overview of recent deals and trends affecting medtech executives
and their companies. More than a "just-the-facts" news section, this
new column will include comments from industry experts in a position to make
sense of recent events affecting our readers.
The Industry Associations column will offer an opportunity for the many organizations
with an interest in medical technologies to discuss events and activities of
current importance. The column launches in this issue with a discussion of AdvaMed's
recently developed preparedness council by the association's president, Pamela
G. Bailey.
The Topspin column provides an opportunity for medtech readers to share lessons
they've learned through recent business experiences. In this issue, Paul Touhey,
senior vice president at Fujirebio Diagnostics Inc. (Malvern, PA), offers a
view from within the workings of a corporate divestiture.
There's a lot more in store from MX for the coming yearand it doesn't
stop with the printed page. Readers interested in this issue's "Medtech
Forecast for 2002," for instance, can find a great deal more from the participants
by accessing the longer version of the article found on the MX Web site
at http://www.devicelink.com/mx.
We encourage MX readers to become involved in the development of these
new columns by proposing topics for coverage as well as their own bylined articles.
